Hi everyone,
Term 4 will be another fun and exciting term of sport for students at Thomastown Primary School. Children in Grades 3-6 will have the opportunity to be selected in the Summer Interschool Sports teams. Our school will compete in Hardball and Kanga Cricket, Bat Tennis, and Rounders. The events will be held at Our Lady of the Way, Kingsbury Primary School and Donath Reserve on Friday 11th October and 1st November. Parents are more than welcomed to attend.
Students in Grade 5-6 will also have the opportunity to participate in the Reservoir Cup, which is held at Reservoir High School. 16 lucky students will have the chance to represent our school against the other schools in the Keon Park District. Basketball will be held on Thursday 28th November and Futsal will be on Thursday 5th December.
In PE, all students will undertake a program run by AFL Victoria, which will introduce students to the sport and expand on their skills in the later year levels.
All children will undertake activities that will develop their fundamental movement skills (running, throwing, catching, and balancing etc) as they revisit sports that will be held at Athletics Day in Term 1 next year. Students in senior year levels will measure their aerobic capacity by completing ‘The Beep Test’. Students previously completed the test in Term 2 and will examine their progress over the course of the year by completing the program again.
