At Thomastown Primary School, we are ahead of the curve! You might have seen recent news about public schools transitioning to teaching literacy using phonics. We're proud to share that we’ve been pioneers in this approach for the last three years, using the Little Learners Love Literacy® program.

Little Learners Love Literacy® is an evidence-based, explicit, and sequential literacy program designed to build confident readers, writers, and spellers from the start. Our Seven Stages sequence ensures that children are only given texts that match their current reading ability, supported by our special decodable books that reinforce sounds and letters students have already learned.

Why Synthetic Phonics? At Thomastown Primary School, we noticed a crucial need for a structured approach to phonics. By focusing on phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and phonics for spelling, we've tailored our literacy program to boost confidence and skills across all our students, not just those who find reading natural.
